Our Wins

Some of the wins we accomplished in previous campaigns have included:

We developed a model of Collaborative Governance that help implementation for:

So TRP is committed to building a multidisciplinary movement. We are working with organizing groups in cities across the country and have developed relationships with scholars to help us think about our work.

The Indianapolis Criminal Justice Center.

  • Our primary research partner was The Vera Institute, although we were able to gather important information from the University of Wisconsin concerning recidivism rates and violent crime trends.  The Vera Institute walked with us throughout the process as we sought out national best practices and more information regarding, pre-trial release, prearrest release, problem courts, mental health trends, the relationship between county jails and mental health facilities, bail reform, police policy, etc., The depth of insight we gained we shared constantly with city-county council members, private stakeholders, local power brokers, community members, including faith-based groups, civic groups, the returning citizen community, business owners, etc.  In the end we were able to discuss and help lead on how jails should be constructed at that time.

Mass Transit Campaign ballot measure

We were chosen as the community builder to lead the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce to lead a ballot measure to expand mass transit in the city.  We first reached out to gather insight from our research partners to gather the rank of the Indianapolis transit system.  We dug deep on travel times for various demographics and neighborhoods. We reached out to gather pay rates for inner-city jobs, recognizing that our initial assumptions would not necessarily be correct. We used data to know where the highest paying jobs in the region were and how long it took folks to get there from Center Township.  Additionally, we interrogated information available through the VAN (Voter Activation Network).  We learned who the highest propensity voters were and where they lived, their ages, ethnicities and learned what we thought we might but did not assume. In the end, we deployed hundreds of phone bankers to reach out to over 150,000 voters, and moved 13.5% of the counties population to win a what was essentially a perpetual tax hike by nearly 19 points.

Community Violence Intervention project to Indianapolis,

we secured a Cost of Violence Analysis, a deep dive into a landscape analysis, a violent crime assessment by neighborhood, a demographic assessment (victims and offenders).  Our assessments opened the door to a real process evaluation that helped measure need and parse out Key Performance Indicators. We reached out to research partners to give good, up to date data relative to like sized cities approach to community interpersonal violence(The article I sent earlier speaks to this project to a large extent).
